Communal life maintains in tents in Şırnak

ŞIRNEX – Şirnak people forced to leave their homes following “curfew” was declared on March 14 in the city. They have maintained communal life in tents they set up on the outskirts of the city. Şırnak people emphasized that they will overcome this situation with solidarity.

Şırnak people have maintained their life by not leaving their lands against the government’s policies of destruction and massacre. Resisting against oppression, Şırnak people have maintained communal life in tents. Şırnak people watch the destruction in the tents set up on the outskirts of the Mount Cudi. They pointed out that they will overcome every difficulty with solidarity. Bedriye Algül is one of these people. She set up her tent in the biryani village of Şırnak. She said, “We follow our people, we want to take our rights, our struggle is for that. We don’t leave our struggle that’s why we stand still for these difficulties.”

Bedriye pointed out that they watch Şırnak from distance and witness all destructions; “They burned our orchards in Şırnak. Actually I don’t have orchards; however our neighbors’ orchards belong to all of us. We shared everything with each other. We never said, “That belong to me or you”. Everyone helped each other. When we only have a bite of bread, we share it with each other. We live together, support each other and struggle for our case.”

Bedriye said that they have maintained communal life and solidarity in tents and they will dress their wounds with solidarity when Şırnak is reopened. She said, “We won’t go anywhere. We won’t leave our lands to anybody. We won’t leave Şırnak. We’ll wait here for returning to Şırnak. We won’t allow the state brings Syrian to here by displacing us.”
