AMED – Prisoners’ relatives, who are concerned about the condition of political prisoners and the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan after the coup attempt in Turkey, demand to see the prisoners and lift the isolation.

As Kurdish people are concerned about the health and security of the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan after coup attempt, want to provide a meeting ungently. However, there is no news from Abdullah Öcalan and prisoners after the coup attempt. As lawyers have been denied to see the political prisoners, the prisoners haven’t been allowed to use their call and communication rights. TUHAD-FED (the Federation of Associations of Solidarity with Families of Prisoners) made a statement about ongoing conditions against prisoners and the ban on right to communicate until further notice. The federation co-chair Mehmet Temizyüz pointed out that the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan had warned that a coup attempt could be practiced if Kurdish issue isn’t solved.

Mehmet said that the AKP government put political coup into practice by refusing the election results of June 7, 2015. He noted that the communication has been cut and isolation has been imposed on Abdullah Öcalan and Kurdish people as a result of political coup. “Thousands of young people have been killed and more than one million people are being displaced forcibly. Turkey peoples have been squeezed into political and military coups. Both of these coups purpose is to carry out massacres against Kurdish people.”

Mehmet underlined that as families of prisoners, we are opposed to two coups and he said the only solution goes into democratic government and the only solution goes into democratic autonomy in Turkey and Middle East. Mehmet said, “We don’t have any news from prisoners and lawyers haven’t been allowed to see the prisoners after coup attempt. Isolation on prisoners is being more aggravated. The isolation on Mr. Öcalan and prisoners should be lifted right away.”
