AMED - Preparations for winter have been made in villages with women's labor. Women, those who do the most difficult works in the Kerxê village of Bismil, are putting kilograms of straw into sacks and carrying them to storages.

Women maintain and organize life in every sphere of life. They make the most effort in living quarters in order to make their living quarters livable and turn them into production sites.

Women in Diyarbakır's Bismil district have already begun the preparations for winter. Women have begun to put straw into sack in Kerxê (Göksu) village. Sadiye Güler is one of those women in the village. "Our work is very difficult but we produce." said Sadiye Güler while carrying heavy sacks.

Sadiye noted that they have to wake up early and work non-stop until night. "For example, we woke up at 5:00 a.m. today. Now, it is 12:01 p.m. and still we don't finish our works. We haven't found time to have breakfast yet. Putting straw into sacks is very difficult work. It is more difficult for one person has asthma. I have asthma; however, I have to put straw into sacks. I'm constantly coughing due to the dust.

"We work in field and garden and we produce. Women build their own life by joining the production in the village. We are in touch with nature. We plant cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes in our garden. People say "men do the heavy work". They are wrong. We do every work."
