WAN - Rainbow Women's Cooperative founded within Erciş Municipality has begun works for the inclusion of women in all areas of life. The cooperative has carried out dairy farm project called "Destdar" in villages and the project aims to ensure women's employment.

Rainbow Women's Cooperative founded within Erciş Municipality has begun projects for women to show women's labor and color in all areas of life. The cooperative aims to make women visible in the life and make women independent economically. Rainbow Women's Cooperative member of the board Güliz Zengin conveyed that the cooperative has been founded recently and they have projects for the inclusion of women in all areas of life. Güliz noted that the first work within the cooperative will be dairy farm consist of women only called "Destdar" and their aims is to make women visible in the life.

"First, we carried out works for founding a dairy farm consist of women only. Our purpose is to reach all women in the village. Some people will ask us "Why a dairy farm?" Women milk the sheep and produce cheese in villages. They give these cheeses to men and men sell them. Women produce cheeses; however, men take all money because they sell them. And we decided to found a dairy farm to end this situation. Meanwhile, men sell not only cheese but also milk and yoghurt. Women produce these products with their labor. That's why we aim to make women's labor visible."

Güliz said that they have already all permissions and materials to found a dairy farm and the dairy farm will be found in Çelebibağı Neighborhood of Van's Erciş district: "We started out to found this dairy farm step by step. We checked which equipments we would need to produce cheese and yoghurt and how much we would need for this project. At first step, we will buy cheese from women in villages and then begin to produce all products by ourselves."
