MÊRDÎN - Our editor Zehra Doğan and the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Mardin MP Ali Atalan's advisor Mazlum Doğan were detained two days ago in Mardin while they were sitting in a café. Zehra and Mazlum were referred to Nusaybin Courthouse today. Zehra's news and social media posts have been counted as an offense.
JINHA Women's News editor editor Zehra Doğan and the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Mardin MP Ali Atalan's advisor Mazlum Doğan were detained two days ago in Mardin while they were sitting in a café. Following the health control in Mardin State Hospital, Zehra and Mazlum were first taken to Mardin Security Directorate and then to Nusaybin Security Directorate. Zehra Doğan and Mazlum Kavak were asked secret witnesses' testimonies. They were reffered to Nusaybin Courthouse today.
Our Editor Zehra Doğan's journalistic activities have been considered as propaganda of an organization by showing her news reported from Nusaybin, Facebook posts, drawings and nine secret witnesses' testimonies. Zehra denied all accusations and said that she is a member of the Journalist Union of Turkey (TGS) and all news she reported are within scope of journalistic activities.
Meanwhile, the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Mardin MP Ali Atalan's advisor Mazlum Doğan has been accused to attend the activities with Ali Atalan. His shares on social media concerning March 8 read, "Happy International Women's Day to all laborers and insurgents women from Clara and Rosa to Sakine and Sêvê" and "Jin jiyan azadi" (Women life freedom) have been counted as an offense.
