AMED - Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality co-mayor Gültan Kışanak made evaluations on August 3 being declared as "International Action Day against Feminicide and Genocide" by all women in the world. "We should welcome August 3 as the day against feminicide and reveal women's power." said Gültan.
There are several days to August 3, the anniversary of Shengal Massacre. Women, who have rebuilt a new life on Shengal Mountains, have continued to improve self-defense against possible attacks. Shengal Êzidî Women's Assembly called on women in the world to declare August 3 as "International Action Day against Feminicide and Genocide" by preparing a text with support of women's organizations. Struggle Platform for Women Forcefully Seized, which founded to save Êzidî women abducted by ISIS, also has supported the campaign. Women in many countries also support the call. People in many countries will observe "a minute's silence" on August 3.
Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality co-mayor Gültan Kışanak also called on all women to observe "a minute's silence" on August 3 against feminicide and she said that massacre carried out against Êzîdi women is a massacre against all women.
Gültan noted that women struggle for life under very difficult circumstances in many countries and feminicide is the biggest problem now. Gültan reminded that aout 5000 Êzîdi women have been subjected to attacks by being abducted. Gültan pointed out that "Struggle Platform for Women Forcefully Seized" was founded under the leadership of women and many Êzîdi women have been saved by the platform until now; however, about 2000 women are still in the hands of ISIS."
Gültan also said that keeping silent against massacre carried out on Êzîdi women means to accept the slavery but women won't accept the slavery. Gültan said, "August 3 must be recognized as International Action Day against Feminicide and Genocide. Women around the world should take to the streets and raise their voice against enslavement. I call on all women; we should welcome August 3 as the day against feminicide and reveal women's power."
