ISTANBUL - We spoke to Figen Yüksekdağ about ongoing situation of Turkey. President invited leaders of the parties for a meeting in Palace after the coup attempt; however, the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) wasn't invited to this meeting. "This photo isn't unity, it is separatism based upon nationalism." said Figen and she noted that the only power that prevent coups.

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ issued statements to our agency about what happened after the coup attempt and current situation of Turkey.

Figen made evaluations about ongoing isolation imposed upon Abdullah Öcalan. She said that the isolation was imposed upon Abdullah Öcalan before the coup attempt; however, this isolation has become more aggravated after the coup attempt. She said, "Imposing isolation was a problem and this isolation caused the coup. The political power, that has to solve the problem, has made the crisis deep. If the political power is really against the coup and it is decisive in having a political stability in Turkey, it should lift this isolation. The source of the chaos, coup and war won't go away unless the isolation imposed upon Mr.Abdullah Öcalan."

President invited leaders of the parties for a meeting in Palace after the coup attempt; however, the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) wasn't invited to this meeting. Three parties leader took a photo, and then some segments call this photo as, "Photograph of Democracy". Figen said, "They say this photo is a democracy photograph. A photo without the HDP cannot be a photograph of democracy. If Kurdish people, women, Alevis, youths, laborers aren't in this photo, no one can call this photo as "Photograph of Democracy". This photo isn't unity, it is separatism based upon nationalism."

A nation front was founded during 41st government of Turkey by Süleyman Demirel, Necmettin Erbakan and Alparslan Türkeş. Three parties's leaders met in the Palace after the coup attempt. And this meeting brings the question a new nation front is wanted to be founded to the mind. Figen said, "The national fronts in history had always ended in disaster. Two nation fronts were founded in the history of Turkey and these two fronts were founded in chaos periods after a coup or state of emergency by dominated alliances. Actually, a nation front has been founded in the recent year by MHP (The Nationalist Movement Party) with the AKP (The Justice and Development Party) and palace. It seems that the CHP (The Republican People's Party) also joins this front.

After the coup attempt, people took to streets under the name of democracy upon the call of president. Figen said, "Unfortunately, culture and awareness of democracy haven't been built in Turkey yet. You cannot say that the people those who took to streets have the awareness of democracy. That mass was against the coup. Being against the coup is an important measure of being democratic; however, being democratic means that you are against all coups. Democrat people should be against the civilian coup, too. You don't allow the junta to seize the civil institutions; however, you allow the palace to seize the democratic institutions."
