Urfa children help to rebuild Yüksekova

COLEMERG - Children those who came from Urfa to rebuild Yüksekova with their mothers say, "Everybody should see the destruction of war in Yüksekova. Let's take on responsibility for Yüksekova."

24-hour curfew had been imposed on Hakkari's Yüksekova (Gever) district for 79 days. Construction process, that began after the ban lifted in the day time period, has continued in the town. Urfa children, who came from Urfa to Yüksekova, have contributed the construction of the town. One of these children 10-year-old Ruken Oğur said she had gone to Kobanê with her mother to rebuild there. Ruken said, "When I went to Kobanê, I saw that mothers and children were very sad. Then, I went to Cizre. I saw demolished and burned houses there. I asked my mother to come the war areas. I came here to become friends with my peers and see the AKP's scandal."

'Send your toys to Gever children'

Ruken said that she walks around Yüksekova, "I saw a family today, and they have a child. I could see the fear in the child's eyes. The child was always hiding behind her mother. Children haven't toys. I will send them my toys when I return to Urfa. I call on my peers to send their toys to Gever children."

'We concern about our leader's life'

Ruken said that she can be indifferent to what is going on despite her age. Ruken condemned the isolation on the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, "We haven't got any news from our leadership. He hasn't been allowed to talk with his family and lawyers. We concern about our leader's life."

Another child came from Urfa is 11-year-old Zozan Polat. She said that they came to Yüksekova for solidarity and they will do their best. Zozan said, "We saw demolished and burned houses. There are fear and sadness on children's faces. We walked around the neighborhoods today. There are bullet holes on wall of houses. I wanted to be with my peers. I am planning to stay here for help people even if my mother returns. Everybody should see the destruction of war in Yüksekova. Let's take on responsibility for Yüksekova."
