Guardians torture 10 female prisoners held in Şakran!

IZMIR - 10 female prisoners held in Şakran Women's Closed Prison were subjected to torture by guardians.

Oppression on prisons has increasingly continued following growing abuse of rights begun with war concept and declaration of state of emergency. 10 female prisoners in Şakran Women's Closed Prison held a sit down to protest the ban on their speech rights and imposition criminal record check on their visitors. 10 female prisoners were subjected to torture by guardians in the prison. According to DİHA (Dicle News Agency) report, lawyers of the Prison Commission of Contemporary Jurists' Association (ÇHD) noted that: "All women were injured in the attack. They were got on the ground and kicked. About 40 guardians joined the attack. Their purpose wasn't to take female prisoners into wards; their purpose was to torture them."

Lawyers talked to prisoner Sevda Kurban and torture traces and shiners were determined on her body. Guardians took Sevgi and Sevda to the infirmary; however they didn't take other injured female prisoners. Meanwhile, the guardians kept hold of Sevda's hair, dragging to infirmary due to order by the second prison director Mehmet Davarcıoğlu.

Lawyers stated that the guardians those who tortured prisoners should be laid off, "Torture is unacceptable. Two days ago, many guardians in this prison were detained for alleged being member of Güler's organization. The torturer guardians should be laid off. Prisoners must have their speech rights as soon as possible and the ban on books and magazines must be ended in the prison."
