Women's Freedom Force (KÖG) and United Liberation Forces (BÖG) fighter Eylem Ataş passed away while fighting against ISIS by joining the operation to liberate Manbij. Her family has applied to Suruç District Governorship to take their daughter's dead body to Turkey since June 27; however, their applications have been refused. Mehmet Ataş noted that Eylem had asked from her father to take her dead body to Adana and bury there if she died in Rojava or killed by state forces. "We'll carry the flag of internationalism and we'll continue the Kurdish people's freedom struggle." said Mehmet.

Mehmet stated that Eylem's struggle was regular and she was fearless, "Eylem was a modest person, she shared everything with everyone. When she needed to make a decision, she thought on that and discussed for hours. She worked throught the ideologies of the struggle of oppressed peoples, the struggle of the working class, the Kurdish people's freedom and Women's Liberation."

Mehmet stated that they discussed about going to Manbij. "We discussed about six months. She told us that we can have our rights by taking arms and resisting. Eyle always told us, "If we want to win tomorrow, we should resist today." She said that resistance will begin in the streets.

"We know that Ezidî women were beheaded and raped by ISIS. Eylem was badly affected by that. Eylem thought the world should be "classless and without borders" and she went to there to show the internationalist solidarity. She continued the struggle in Rojava."

Mehmet noted that they have applied to Suruç District Governorship to take their daughter's dead body to Turkey since she was killed while fighting against ISIS. Mehmet emphasized that the bodies of houndreds of fighters, who lost their lives while fighting against ISIS, have been held at the border gate of Turkey and the state cannot stand the corpses.
