AMED - Sur people state that police have tried to bring drug gangs in Sur after the self-government resistance. They say, "These drug gangs' members were afraid of entering here during the resistance period. They are trying to enter Sur because police act them in a warm way."

Previous day, Medeni Kastarlı, owner of a café in the İskenderpaşa Street of the İnönü Avenue of diyarbakır's Sur district, and his brother Adnan Kastarlı argued with 15 drug gangs' members. Drug gangs' members put their gun on them and began to open randomly fire on the café and the street and killed a woman named Hüsna Kastarlı. Her relatives Mehmet Kastarlı and Engin Durmuş were injured. Eyewitnesses say that police didn't do anything to stop the gangs' members and the ambulance arrived to the scene one hour later.

Curfew which was declared in sur on December 2, 2015, has still imposed in four neighborhoods. Checkpoints have been built in every street. People have disappointed the policies of displacement by returning to their homes. However, drug gangs have tried to enter the town now. Sur people say that the policy of drugs and prostitution have been tried to carried out in the town; however, the gangs' members didn't dare to enter Sur during the self-government period, now they have begun to enter the town with the help of police.

One Sur woman stated that police officers have been directing young people to drugs and prostitution in İskenderpaşa Neighborhood, "We see drugs gangs' members in the every street. Before, we went out without fear but now we are afraid of going out now. Gangs' members insult old women. When people report that to police, they say them "It isn't important". Gangs' members killed Hüsna in front of police officers; however they didn't do anything. That means police support the gangs' members."

The woman said that they felt safe when the youths were in the neighborhood during the resistance, "These gangs' members were afraid of entering the streets that time. Now, they try to enter our neighborhoods because police officers act them in a warm way. I hope Sur people understand the value of the youths once again. They protected us."
