Family waits for their son dead body for 3 months

MÊRDÎN - The family of Mehmet Ağırman, who came to Nusaybin from İzmir and joined the resistance, has waited for take their son's dead body for three months. "Mehmet believed he would succeed and he did. He fell as a martyr for his people. We just want to take his dead body." said Mehmet's grandmother Latife Akyüz.

Mehmet Ağırman (nom de guerre Botan Soro) of the YPS (Civil Defense Units) passed away in genocidal attacks against people's self-government resistance in the Nusaybin district of Mardin. His family hasn't taken his dead body even after three months. 17-year-old Mehmet, who lived in İzmir, joined the self-government resistance against attacks on his people by refusing to stay silent. Curfew had been imposed on the town for 134 days and it was lifted partly in nine neighborhoods; however, the ban has continued to impose on Fırat, Dicle, Yenişehir, Zeynel Abidin, Abdulkadirpaşa and Kışla neighborhoods and people haven't been allowed entering these neighborhoods by enclosing with wires. People point out that state forces have tried to cover the violation of rights and atrocity that they imposed on the neighborhoods.

'We want to bury our son body'

Family of Mehmet, who passed away on May, demand to take their son body; however, they haven't received their son's dead body despite all attempts. His grandmother Latife Akyüz said, "We just want to take his corpse and bury him. At least we can say we have the grave of our son."

Latife stated that Mehmet had been in Nusaybin for one year and they learned that he passes away on May 2. Latife said, "He worked with his friends, he had a hope about them, he liked them and joined them. We don't regret his decision. He worked for his people and stood up for them. Mehmet took the name of his uncle "Botan Soro". He was a hardworking youth, I am proud of my grandson. He showed a great resistance in Nusaybin and Nusaybin people liked him. His struggle was for his Kurdish people, his people and his homeland."
