ANKARA - Associate Prof. Betül Yarar and Assoc. Dr. Kemal Inal have been suspended for signing a statement titled "We will not be a party to this crime".

Following the recent attempted coup, there has been increased intimidation of academics who signed a statement titled "We will not be a party to this crime". Associate Prof. Betül Yarar and Assoc. Dr. Kemal Inal, who were targeted by nationalist students in Gazi University before, have been suspended from the university.

According to İleri Haber, Kemal İnal wrote on his Facebook account that, "I have been suspended from Gazi University as of today. I don't know what crime I am accused of".

Anatolian University (AÜ) Rector had previously suspended 21 academics who signed the statement.
