AMED - "We will on the streets until isolation lifted" said women, who join the actions taken to lift the isolation upon the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Hundreds of people have joined the "Freedom Vigil" launched in many parts of Diyarbakır to protest the aggravated isolation upon the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. We handed our microphone to women, who joined the vigil. One of these women is Ülkü Baytaş, co-mayor of Yenişehir Municipality. Ülkü said that they launched this vigil following the attempted coup on July 15.

Ülkü stated that state of emergency was declared following the attempted coup and all communication was cut with İmralı, "Government authorities haven't made any statement about the health of Abdullah Öcalan. We'll continue the vigil until we hear from him and the isolation imposed upon him be lifted. The actions, which have begun in many parts of Diyarbakır, have gradually spread."

Another woman, who joined the vigil, is Zeynep Kaya. She said that if needed, they would continue the vigil for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan for months. Zeynep said, "The AKP called on all people to take to streets under the name of "Democracy Watch" following the attempted coup. Watch is legal if they keep but it isn't when we keep. Police surround us every night. I am calling on all Kurdish people; Protest the isolation wherever you are."
