ISTANBUL - ETHA made a written statement and called for the release of all arrested journalists.

Effective News Agency (ETHA) made a written statement in related to the arrest of its correspondent Fatma Edemen. The statement reads, "What is "the reasonable doubt" to need keeping Fatma Edemen under detention for more than 24 hours? What is the ground of not giving information about her and allowing her lawyer to talk to her? Democratic Modernity editor Haydar Ergül has been kept under detention in Diyarbakır for seven days, and DİHA (Dicle News Agency) correspondent Engin Eren has been kept under detention in Siirt for three days. Those who issue detention warrants against journalists are the same people talk about democracy. Impression, violence and arrests will not prevent reporting the truth. Journalism is not a crime. Our correspondent Fatma Edemen and all arrested journalists should be immediately released."
