38,000 prisoners are going to be released by adding a new article in Law on Execution of Penalties and Security Measures. The reasons under this implementation put a question mark in the minds.

Even if world media report that as “making space for coup plotters”, actually the impression against Kurdish press has greatly increased since this implementation began. The numbers of arrested journalists have increased day by day. The journalists have been arrested on the ground of “making propaganda of an organization”.

Two days ago, 24 journalists were detained by being tortured after the closure decision of Özgür Gündem daily. As more journalists have been arrested day by day, who cannot claim that the prisons have been emptied for making space for journalists?

The impressions, that have begun since state of emergency was declared, have been reported to the world under the name of “Coup Plotters”. However, the state of emergency has been imposed on Kurds. Kurdish people know very well what state of emergency means because it has been imposed on them for years. Closing a daily and arresting journalists are only a face of the state of emergency.

So what is another face? Another face is who will really put in the prisons which have been emptied.
