ISTANBUL- 22 journalists, who were detained as a result of the raid on Özgür Gündem daily office have been released. “We knew we would win by resisting,” said the daily editor Günay Aksoy.
Özgür Gündem daily editors and reporters have been released on rising reactions of the popular opinion. The journalists made a statement in front of courthouse and one of the editors of the daily Ender Öndeş reacted to the attacks on them during detention. Ender said, “They confused us with Fethullah’s holdings. Özgür Gündem is not same with newspapers that you know.” Ender stated that they were battered and they were subjected to torture during detention and he underlined that they would never bow down to impression.
Meanwhile, Özgür Gündem editor in chief Zana Kaya, publisher İnan Kızılkaya and columnist Aslı Erdoğan are still in questioning at Istanbul Provincial Security Directorate Anti-terror Unit.
