ŞIRNEX –The entrance and exit to Şırnak is still prohibited although the clashes were ended after resistance lasted 82 days in the city. According to reports received, the reason for continuation of the ban is for “contractors to work comfortable.”
24-hour curfew had been declared in Şırnak on March 14. Although 160 days have been passed since genocide attacks was begun to carried out in the city, the ban has been still imposed in the city. Almost all citizens have been forcibly displaced from their city and they have begun to live in tents in villages and highlands around the city.
The YPS forces continued self-government resistance for 82 days. Following clashes and the heavy losses, the governor announced that “operations ended in the city” on June 3. Despite this announcement, the destruction of homes and workplaces in the city has continued. Damaged and non-damaged homes and workplaces have begun to blow down in order to wipe the city off the map.
Curfews, which had been declared in Cizîr (Cizre), Hezex (İdil) and Silopiya (Silopi), were partially lifted and then they were completely lifted; however this situation wasn’t carried out in Şırnak. People think that the ban has continued to be imposed in their city in order to open the way of contractors to work comfortable.
