ANKARA – Bag bill has been presented the General Assembly of the Parliament. The Environmental Impact Assessment (ÇED) reports will be put away if the article 75 of the bag bill is passed. This means if the Ministry gives permission, unlicensed mining, unauthorized HES (the Hydroelectric Power Plant) and unlicensed coal plants can be established. Beyza Üstün from the Ecology Commission of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) made evaluations about the issue.

Some disputed articles of the bag bill submitted to the parliament have been withdrawn. The legislation about moving city centers of Hakkari and Şırnak has been removed from the bag bill. Another disputed article, which has been removed from the bag bill, was the appointment of trustee to the municipalities. However, the articles 23, 50 and 75 of the bag bill contain serious problems.

In Article 23, immovable of the municipalities have been able to seized, in Article 50, in the construction process of Kurdish cities after the destruction, local governments will be eliminated and all their authorities will be given to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and in the Article 75 The Environmental Impact Assessment (ÇED) reports will be put away if the articles above are passed at the General Assembly.

Academic and member of the Ecology Commission of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Beyza Üstün noted that nothing will prevent the pillage, destruction and privatization if the Article 75 is passed at the General Assembly. Beyza said, “They continue to give rivers to companies, build bridges and airports in the forests.”

Beyza stated that the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization will eliminate all obstacles with this article and all measures taken with other article can be ignored with decision of the Council of Ministers. She said, “This means the Council Ministers will continue to destroy, burn, annihilate everything. The Justice and Development Party (AKP), Republican's People Party (CHP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) approve everything under the name of “Democracy Union”. I hope the CHP exhibit different attitude and don’t allow damaging the nature and ecosystems. We don’t have anything except the nature.”
