WAN –Women, who react to Antep massacre, stated that the Kurdish people have been targeted in the attacks by underlining that the massacre that was carried out immediately after the peace declaration of the KCK is thought-provoking.

According to initial report, mostly children 51 people died in bomb attack on civilian people in the Şahinbey Neighborhood of Antep. The reactions to the attacks have gradually increased. As Van women expressed their regrets and reaction to the terror in the wedding party, they criticized the government’s evaluation as “There are no security vulnerabilities” like they did after the massacres in Diyarbakır, Suruç and Ankara even though they haven’t taken any measure against ISIS gangs. The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Van Province co-chair Gülistan Orhan said that mostly those who killed in the attack are women and children and she underlined that the massacre that was carried out against Kurdish people and just immediately after the peace declaration of the KCK is thought-provoking.

Gülistan points out that the government has carried out a policy that has incited their war policy against Kurdish people’s calls for peace for years. Gülistan said, “A genocide has been carried out since July 7 election. Our people will take a tough stance against attacks carried out by the AKP. As Kurdish people, we have experienced such attacks for centuries. They used destruction, denial and assimilation policies against Kurds; however, they didn’t manage and they will not manage. As HDP, we condemn these attacks and we know the peoples in Turkey need peace. Violence always breeds violence. We demand to the current ruling power to listen to peoples and take a step.”

One of the HDP Van Province administrators Dilek Akdağ reminds that ISIS has attacked Turkey following the revolution in Rojava. Dilek noted that after the attacks, people ask ‘those who killed are Kurdish or Turkish’ on social media and this attitude is painful. Dilek said, “As people, our best response to this is to ask peace. There is a beautiful word of Abdullah Öcalan on peace: War is easy, the difficult thing is to have peace and we will demand for peace to the end.”

Saray Municipality co-mayor Zilan Aldatmaz expressed her condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack. She stated that Turkey has been in a chaos for one year: “We begin the day with massacre and deaths every day. The country has become a country of nightmares. This attack isn’t the first attack of ISIS. As we know, no organization has claimed the attack carried out in Antep; however, as the statements of state forces and witness people, the attack seems to be carried out by ISIS.”

Zilan said that the Kurdish people have been targeted in the recent bomb attacks. She underlined that ISIS has carried out actions particularly against people who are pro-democracy and those who call for peace following its defeats in Syria. Zilan said, “We will not take a step back against these attacks.”
