Bridge of sisterhood from Ankara to Nusaybin

ANKARA – A group of women from Ankara Women’s Platform headed to Nusaybin as part of a campaign with motto, “Women are together against war and violence”. Women’s purpose is to meet women’s needs in Nusaybin.

A group of women from Ankara Women’s Platform headed to Nusaybin in order to reach the women in Kurdistan as part of a campaign launched on May with the motto, “Women are together against war and violence”. They purpose is to meet women’s needs with the raised money. Women, who organized some activities since the campaign began to launch, seek for solution against war and violence and build a bridge of sisterhood with women in Kurdistan.

Sevinç Koçak from Ankara Women’s Platform said one woman was killed in Ankara while war was continued and naked bodies were exhibiting in Kurdistan. Sevinç stated that they launched this campaign in a period violent against women are on the rise. “We want to build a sister ship bridge in order to raise women’s voice against the war. We are going to head to Nusaybin for this bridge of sisterhood,” said Sevinç and noted that the campaign will continue until September 1.

Another woman from the platform, Hatice Kapusuz stated that one of these components of this campaign is in West, “Because, the war is not only in Kurdistan. The war affects the women in the West, too. Standing against discourse of violence or supporting people those who struggle for peace can be a support.”

Derman Gülmez from the Ankara Women’s Platform stated that they launched this campaign to be with women, “Because the bombs are falling on our lives and there are the dead without an ID in all of us. We are mourning of people and children we never meet. We are going to there for solidarity and we raised a sum of money and we will try to do whatever we can.”
