‘I don’t want war, I want to play game’

DÎLOK – “Don’t let people cry and children die anymore. I don’t want war, I want to play in the streets,” said a child named Yüsra Durak, who wounded on her left leg in Antep massacre. She is suffering from the massacre that she doesn’t understand.

58 people, mostly children, were killed in Antep massacre, those who escape from the attack as wounded cannot be happy to be alive. Nine out of 10 families in the same street have lost one of their loved ones. 34 children lost their lives in the massacre. Some children, who escaped from the attack as wounded, don’t speak anymore. One of wounded children in the attack is nine-year-old Yüsra Durak and she is suffering trauma. She still wants to play with her friends. Yüsra told us the attack night: “It was the wedding of our relatives. I went to there with my family. All of us were dancing. My aunts also came to the wedding. My aunt Saliha asked a bottle of water from me. I went to shop to buy water with my two friends. I bought water. I heard sound while leaving the shop. I only remember the sound. Then, I was taken to hospital. The arm of one of my friend burned. My aunt, who sent me to shop to buy water, and my other aunt lost their lives.”

Yüsra returned to home after staying in the hospital for two days. Yüsra said she was bored to stay in hospital and home, “I want to play games with my friends. I am always lying down, I cannot even sit down. I am bored. My mother always cries. My uncle, aunts and grandfather lost their lives. Many of my friends lost their lives. My grandmother, mother and relatives are crying for their children, grandchildren and their loves ones. Don’t let people cry and children die anymore.”
