AMED – Two detained Azadiya Welat staff members have been jailed and one was released; however, he was detained again.

24 staff members of the only Kurdish-language daily Azadiya Welat were detained on 28 August during police raid on the office of the daily. 13 of them were released after being questioned at police station. 11 staff members were sent to Diyarbakır Courthouse and then were sent to the court for arrest. As the court released nine of them under judicial control, Arap Turan and Ferit Toprak were sent to jail on charges of "being an illegal organization member". Mecrum Tekol had been released under judicial control; however, he was detained again by showing an investigation carried out in Sêrt (Siirt). Mecrum were taken to Sêrt.
