NEWS CENTER- Political prisoners in Kurdistan and Turkey will launch an indefinite-irreversible hunger strike for the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
As the indefinite-irreversible hunger strike for the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Diyarbakır has entered in the fourth day, Kurdish political prisoners make an important decision.
Hunger strike to begin on September 15
Prisoners have decided to launch an indefinite-irreversible hunger strike for Abdullah Öcalan. The hunger strike, which will begin on September 15, will be launched at first step in seven prisons. 35 prisoners in these seven prisons will launch the indefinite-irreversible hunger strike for “creating an impenetrable security cordon around Öcalan”
Deniz Kaya made a written statement about the hunger strike on behalf of all political prisons in Kurdistan and Turkey.
The statement reads, “A coup took place on July 15, 2016 as a result of struggle for power between fascist and political Islamist communities. The AKP-palace declared their sovereignty as a fascist dictatorship when the coup failed. However, we know very well that the AKP-Palace blow was started on April, 2015. This process began by aggravating the isolation upon our leadership and ignoring the Dolmabahçe Agreement and “The Resolution Process” and this process attained a new stage on June 7 election. This blow process, which began imposing isolation upon our Leadership, continued with not accepting the election results of June 7 and taking the country to a new general election. Soon after, a war was restarted by bombarding Medya Defense Areas on July 24, 2015. Kurdish people and their guerrillas responded to this annihilation concept called “collapse plan” with self-defense resistance. On the one hand, the AKP-Palace carried out attacks against the Kurds by giving an opportunity to ISIS, on the other hand, they devastated many cities of Kurdistan, particularly Cizre-Sur-Silopi-Nusaybin-Şırnak-İdil-Gever. They killed hundreds of patriotic civilians, children and women. However, a heroic resistance rose to the surface against massacre, atrocity and destruction.
“Our leadership was targeted the life of our Leader. We don2t know what happened on İmralı Island on July 15 night. Despite knowing that the coup plotters targeted the life of our Leader, we do not even know if he is alive or not. The government made no satisfactory statement on this subject, nor has it enabled a meeting with his family, lawyers or a political delegation. This situation increases our concerns over the security and health of our Leader who is a reason for life and death to us. As PKK and PAJK prisoners, we state clearly that we are committed to our Leader to death.
“We will launch an indefinite-irreversible hunger strike starting by September 15. PKK and PAJK prisoners in Diyarbakır D-Type Siirt E-Type, Gebze Women's Prison, Kandıra No-1 F-Type, Kırıklar F-Type, Silivri and Tarsus prisons will start the hunger strike as the 1st group on September 15. The strike will be participated with five inmates from each prison; totally 35 of our comrades will launch the indefinite-irreversible hunger strike. We call upon our families, patriot Kurds, intellectuals and democratic public opinion to embrace the resistance, enhance the uprisings with a spirit of mobilization, and rise up all together.”
