AMED - KESK (the Confederation of Public Employees' Trade Unions) members wanted to issue a press statement in front of building of Diyarbakır Provincial Directorate of National Education to protest the suspension of around 11,285 teachers by the AKP government. Police attacked the protesters and detained 112 people.

Police attacked the protesters and detained 112 people. According to reports, children and citizens, who supported the action, have been detained, too.
Meanwhile, Eğitim Sen Branch Co-chair Nuri Özdemir was seriously injured by police during the crackdown. Nuri Özdemir was taken to hospital.
