Detained 47 teachers released

AMED – 47 teachers, who were detained by police while they were issuing a press statement in Diyarbakır to protest the suspension of teachers, have been released. Eğitim Sen Branch Co-chair Nuri Özdemir, who was wounded and taken to hospital, has been discharged from the hospital.
Yesterday, members of the Education and Science Workers Union (Eğitim-SEN) wanted to issue a press statement in front of building of Diyarbakır Provincial Directorate of National Education to protest the suspension of around 11,285 teachers and thousands of public workers by the AKP government and police attacked the protesters and detained 47 people. 47 teachers have been released.
Meanwhile, Eğitim Sen Branch Co-chair Nuri Özdemir, who was wounded and taken to Selahattin Eyyübi State Hospital, has been discharged from the hospital.
