ŞIRNEX – The documents and computers of the Cizre Women’s Policy Department have been seized. There are personal details of women, who applied to the department in the documents. Meya Women’s Center staff member Zeynep Şıkgenç stated that the similar situation happened in Silvan, too. “There must be the privacy of applicants; however, the applications take away the principle of confidentiality. Women’s lives and achievements are under danger,” said Zeynep.

The first step of trustees appointed to 24 municipalities governed by the DBP (Democratic Regions Party) on September 11 is to prevent women’s works. The appointed trustees have headed towards the Women's Policy Departments after the Head of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Women's Policy Department Yüksel Aslan Acer was detained 10 days ago. The documents and computers of the Cizre Women’s Policy Department have been seized and taken to Cizre Police Station. Members of the Sitiya Zin Women’s Counseling Center affiliated to Women’s Policy Department indicated that they couldn’t carry out their works due to lack of the documents.

Meya Women’s Center affiliated to Silvan Women’s Policy Department member, Zeynep Şıkgenç stated that the applications are against the principle of confidentiality of women and children and she said, “Our works have been carried out for women and children. There are many violence, rape and sexual cases. The seizure of our documents is to prevent our works. These applications take away the principle of confidentiality. The preventions and seizure of our documents and computers is a politic attitude. That’s not only issue of Silvan, Cizre, Sur or other municipalities trustees appointed, but also the issue of all women in Turkey and world.” Zeynep underlined that the prevention of women’s works is a politic attitude against women’s struggle.”
