Women's organizations: Yüksel Acer should be released

AMED – The Free Women’s Congress and women’s organizations demand the Head of Women's Policy Department of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, Yüksel Acer, who has been detained for 14 days, to be released immediately by releasing a press statement. “We know the ruling power regards the women’s works as a threat and we are aware of their fears,” said women.
The Free Women’s Congress and women’s organizations released a press statement for the Head of Women's Policy Department of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, Yüksel Acer, who has been detained for 14 days. Melek Çetin from Kardelen Women’s Center read the statement. Melek said, “Yüksel Acer, who has remained in detention for 14 days, has met with her lawyers only two times and it is unclear what charges have been brought against her. We know the ruling power regards the women’s works as a threat and we are aware of their fears. We are aware that women’s organizing will defeat all power’s areas that has been dictated and we will continue to resist against this power.”
Melek underlined that the main target is women’s works, “We will raise the women’s struggle and we will take our works by the throat. As all women’s organizations, we say Yüksel Acer, who has been held in detention unlawfully for 14 days, should be released immediately.”
