AMED – The vocational courses carried out by Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality are also an important area of socialization. Thousands of women, who are being tried to put in homes by masculine mindset, are attending to these courses.

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality has opened more than 10 courses with consciousness of social municipality for people, particularly women. They have continued to open courses in many areas such as Kurdish language, wood painting, computer, and graphic and jewelry design courses. Women have both social and vocational education areas with these courses. Social Services Department, Vocational Education Branch Manager Türkan Turan expressed that the courses provided an important social area for people, particularly for women. Türkan emphasized that those courses took women from homes against masculine mindset, which trying to put women in homes.

Türkan stated that they used every means available to reach all people in the city. Türkan underlined that they hadn’t have any supports from government agencies and they only benefited from the opportunity of the municipality. Meanwhile, Türkan stated that the municipality would continue give material support and new opportunities to the people attending the courses. Türkan announced that the course records would begin on October.

The courses given by the Vocational Education Branch Office are as follows; Kurdish, textile, fashion design, authentic jewelry design, rug weaving, skin care and makeup, apprenticeship of cooker, Autocad drawing program, baglama (an music instrument), youth choir, tile, guitar, erbane (an music instrument), ceramic, oil painting, charcoal drawing techniques, wicker basket, stone processing, sculptor, making wooden toys and glass fusion.
