ISTANBUL – Lawyer Eren keskin talked as to the closure of 10 dissident channels within the scope of the decree law. “The ruling power wants to annihilate every person, who is seen as barrier for its power under the name of state of emergency. Closing channels happens in fascist systems,” said Eren.

The impression and attacks on free press has been gradually increased following the declaration of the state of emergency after the attempted coup on July 15. Newspapers have been closed down, journalists have detained and the broadcasts of channels and radio stations have been stopped. The former editor-in-chief of recently closed Özgür Gündem daily and lawyer Eren Keskin talked to our news agency regarding the issue. Eren said, “We have experienced unlawfulness applications since the attempted coup on July 15. People have been detained for extremely simple reason and there is oppression on press organs. 10 dissident channels, including one children’s channel, have been shut down. And, all these happened without court order.

“The ruling power wants to annihilate every person, who is seen as barrier for its power under the name of state of emergency. We should evaluate the attacks on press in this manner.” Eren said the fascist systems use the method of the closure of channels without any order by the court.
