Prison sentence to Hafize İpek for her speeches on Sur & Paris massacre

AMED - DBP Diyarbakır Provincial Branch Co-chair Hafize İpek has received 18 months 22 days prison sentence and six thousand liras of judicial fine with the allegation of “making terrorist propaganda” and “praising crime and criminals” for speaking against the blockade and “curfew” in Sur and her speech on the anniversary of the massacre of Kurdish women politicians.

Two lawsuits were filed against the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Diyarbakır Branch Co-chair Hafize İpek for speaking against the blockade and “curfew” in Sur and her speech in an event in Diyarbakır on the anniversary of the massacre of Kurdish women politicians Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez in Paris on January 9, 2015. The second hearing for the lawsuits filed against Hafize with the allegation of “making terrorist propaganda” and “praising crime and criminals” for her speeches, was held in Diyarbakır Criminal Court No.4.

The court has sentenced Hafize 18 months 22 days in prison and six thousand liras of judicial fine with the allegation of “making terrorist propaganda” and “praising crime and criminals” for her speeches in Sur and the event.
