ISTANBUL - BİGK will hold its sixth conference on October 30 with the motto, “Women are Insistent on Peace: We talk about our future in light of our experience of ‘State of Emergency’”.

Women's Initiative for Peace (BİGK) will hold its sixth conference with the motto, “Women are Insistent on Peace: We talk about our future in light of our experience of ‘State of Emergency’”. Women will talk about their experience in period of State of Emergency (OHAL) and what should be done in the conference to be held on October 30.

‘We need to think together’

In the text of the conference call reads as: “The times of violence, oppression and uncertain came back. The foreseeability situation of rule of law and democracy has been completely destroyed. Now it is almost impossible to continue our daily life. All lives are upside down. Women are trying to continue life in the situation that is unknown how long will take. As women, who dream of a different life and fight and organize for it, we need to think together, talk about our experiences, what we are doing and what should we do in this atmosphere.

‘Talking will be good for us’

Range of coups… Do you have any sense of how we (women) are experiencing these coups? Do you know this consecutive violence affect women? How do forms of masculinity and femininity change? What kind of strategies do we develop to present a normal to the people around us? Or can we develop any strategy? We say talking about those will be good for us, because all of us live under effect of trauma; some of us are in prisons, some of us are waiting in front of prisons. Some of us lost their relatives. The homes of some of us are being destroyed. Talking about those will be good for us and will help us to determine a route map.

‘If we support the negotiation, then what should we do?’

In Coup conditions/War days: What should we do to ensure life if women support life? What should we do to ensure peace if women support peace? What should we do if women support the negotiation? We call upon women to talk about all of these things together. As women, we formed our struggle with the reality of lives. And we want to do that again.”

The conference will be held on October 30 at Chamber of Architects in Kadıköy of Istanbul.
