ANKARA – The last week has seen the arrest of 180 people in the AKP’s political genocide operation, among them five provincial co-chairs and 56 district co-chairs.

The number of Kurdish politicians targeted for arrest continues to rise recently in the AKP’s political genocide operation. According to statistics from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Legal Commission, 180 have been arrested in the cities of Turkey and Kurdistan in the last seven days. The majority of them are HDP and DBP (Democratic Regions Party) provincial and district co-chairs.

Political operations in Diyarbakır yesterday and Van today resulted in the arrest of four provincial co-chairs. Since the beginning of arrest operations yesterday, 56 district and provincial co-chairs from the HDP and DBP have been arrested in Diyarbakır, Van, Kars, and Hakkari.

Also under arrest are the co-mayors of Ovakışla, in Bitlis.

While the majority of the arrestees are provincial and district co-chairs, the remainder of the figure is made up of provincial and district directors.
