WAN – A video was released on social media and wounded Saime Avşin was subjected to torture in the video. Saime continues to be subjected to torture in Van M Type Prison by soldiers.

A video was released on social media for days. A woman was subjected to torture by being dragging on the stones as wounded. The identity of female guerilla was determined as Saime Avşin by her family members and lawyers. After being wounded in a clash broke out in the Rûbarok (Derecik) town of Hakkari’s Şemdinli district on August 28, Saime was treated and then sent to Van M Type Closed Prison.

Wounded in the arm and leg Saime’s needs have been reported to be met by her friends in the prison. MHD (Mesopotamia Lawyers Association) Van Branch lawyers submitted a petition to the Public Prosecutor of Şemdinli in order to identify the soldiers, who tortured Saime in the video and filed a criminal complaint to impose a penalty on the soldiers.

‘Torture continues in the prison’

While those who tortured Saime haven’t been identified yet, Saime’s lawyer Erhan Çifçi reported that Saime continued to be subjected to torture in the prison. Erhan stated that Saime was subjected to torture when she was brought to the hospital by soldiers and the guards in the prison insulted her and didn’t allow her to use wheel chair even if she had difficulty to walk.
