MÊRDÎN – Being prisoner in Mardin E Type Closed Prison with her nine-month-old son Diyar, Feride Kömürcü’s six children are waiting for her outside. Her oldest daughter Hürriyet takes responsibility of her siblings and the children even cannot enter their home.

Being held in Mardin E Type Closed Prison, Feride Kömürcü was taken into custody with her husband during a house raid in the Tepebağ (Tilbisim) village of Mardin’s Derik district on September 26 with her sons Diyar and 15-year-old Mahsum and then she was sent to the prison with her son Diyar. Now, six of Feride’s children, including Mahsum, are waiting for their mother. While the children think their mother and brother, Feride is worried about her children.

Feride’s 15-year-old son Mahsum said, “An explosion took place on the road near our village so I grazed the animals and returned to home around 10 a.m. Soldiers raided on our village when I arrived to home. They took me, my mother and my nine-month-old brother into custody. They insulted and beat us while taking us into custody. They held us in gendarmerie station, where smells like sewage. They told us ‘you carried out the attack’. They released me 10 days later; however, they sent my mother and brother to prison.

Mahsum, who heard his brother’s crying sound, said, “Sometimes, he cried hours and we had to close our ears.”

The oldest children in the family Hürriyet has to look after her siblings. Hürriyet went to collect cotton when her mother was being taken into custody. She said, “My mother, Mahsum and Diyar weren’t at home when I returned to home. I haven’t seen my mother and brother for days. We stay with our grand-mother because we are afraid of returning to home. We are seven siblings. My nine-month-old brother is held in prison. We are six children now. We miss our mother. Agit says, ‘I won’t behave badly to Diyar anymore when he returns to home”. He misses them very much. My mother and brother are in prison as innocence. All we want is our mother and brother to be released immediately.”
