SHENGAL – The first women’s asayish check point has been set up on Shengal Mountains. This application is welcomed by women.

Setting up a women’s asayish checkpoint on Shengal Mountains makes women happy. Martyrs Gulçin Asayish Checkpoint protected by the Shengal Women Unites (YJŞ) controls the security of the road between Xane Sore and Shengal.

Those who pass through this road, no matter which political thought they have, greet the women from Ezidixan (Land of the Ezidis). The YJŞ fighters expressed the Shengal women’s appreciation and said, “As women, we protect here. So far, the society didn’t trust Ezidi women. For this reason, when they see women protect the asayish checkpoint, they are pleased to see us and on the other hand, they get surprised by saying, “how do women protect this area”. Even they come and tell us, “Seeing you here gives us moral and happiness”.

Asmin Botan, member of the YJŞ Martyrs Gulçin Asayish Checkpoint, said, “As a group of women, we decided to take the control of the asayish checkpoint and protect ourselves. We wanted to show everyone how strong the women’s will is by taking the control of the asayish checkpoint.”
