Military operation and buildup gradually increasing

AMED – As military operations and buildup have been increased in Kurdistan, villages have been blockaded and bombarded after the declaration of curfews in rural areas particularly in Diyarbakır, Dersim and Hakkari.
After the declaration of curfews against self-government resistances, now bans have been declared in rural areas. The most military operations and buildup have been carried out in Diyarbakır, Dersim, Hakkâri, Adıyaman, Kars and Bitlis. Communication was cut off, bombardment began and fire broke out in rural areas following the launching of operations.
Operation in 14 villages
Curfew had been declared in 14 villages of Diyarbakır’s Lice, Hazro and Kocaköy districts on October 17. Diyarbakır Governorate had announced that they had declared a curfew in Lice’s Çağdaş, Yolçatı, Uçarı, Çağdaş, Kayacık, Ortaç, Çavundur, Dolunay, Yalaza, Bağlan and Kabakaya villages; Hazro’s Çiftlikbahçe and Sarıerik villages and Kocaköy’s Boyunlu and Gözebaşı villages. As the curfew was lifted this morning, preparations for a large-scale operation was launched after the deployment to the villages, entrance and exit to the villages have been closed.
Bombardment in a village
The first bombardment began in rural area of Lice’s Mışırt (Bağlan) village after the operations. There is no information from the place where the bombardment was carried out by helicopters, yet. The surroundings of Mîşirf villages were blockaded by hundreds of soldiers. According to reports, the soldiers didn’t allow the villages going out of their homes. Meanwhile, many armored vehicles were deployed to the region and village guards were brought to the operation area.
Communication cut off with villages
The communication with the villages was cut off following the blockade the region by soldiers and bombardment on villages. According to reports, the soldiers stayed in the Nenyas (Ortaç) village and didn’t allow villagers going out of their homes.
Villagers’ orchards fired
Last night, a fire broke out in rural area of Cumarê region of Kabakkaya hamlet as a result of bombardment by helicopters. Villagers’ orchards have been reported to burn.
Entrance and exit to Ovacık closed
One of cities, where being bombarded and curfew has been declared constantly, is Dersim. Entrance and exit to the city’s Ovacık district were closed on October 15.
Many soldiers wounded
Soldiers were deployed to the region following the declaration of curfew. Ahpanos Valley, located between Pülümür and Ovacık, was bombarded. The air activity continues over the region. Many soldiers were wounded in the wide-scale operation.
The clashes and air activity continue in the region.
13 guerrillas lost their lives
Dead bodies belong to 13 guerrillas, who have been reported to die in bombardment carried out on October 16 in Pülümür Valley, were taken to Dersim State Hospital. According to statement issued by Governorate, dead bodies of 13 guerrillas, including six women, will be taken to Malatya Forensic Medicine Institute after preliminary autopsy.
Large military deployment in Şemdinli
Military operations have been carried out in Hakkari, too. A wide-scale operation launched in Şemdinli following a bomb laden vehicle attacked on Durak Gendarmerie Station on October 9. As villages were blockaded, villagers were taken into custody by being battered. Meanwhile, military guard posts around Navberojan and Garê regions of Şemdinli were bombarded the area with howitzer and mortar fire.
Curfew extended in Kars and Bitlis
Kars governorate declared security zone in rural area of Çemçe Madur of Kars’s Kağızman district two months ago. The ban has been extended another 15 days. Kars Governorate stated that the ban would continue until October 25.
The curfew, which was declared in the Oranis (Anadere) and Dönertaş villages of Bitlis’s Tatvan district on October 15, has been extended until further notice by Governorate.
Operation in Adıyaman
A clash was broke out in the Kömür town of Adıyaman on October 14 and a specialized sergeant was wounded in the clash. Soldiers launched an operation in the region following the clash. The forestland in the rural area of Akçalı Village was set on fire in the operation.
