House raids in Ankara&Istanbul: Many arrested

ANKARA – Police conducted house raids in Ankara and Istanbul. Many members of party and unions have been detained. Meanwhile, six politicians, who were detained in Van, have jailed.

The arrest continues in the AKP’s political genocide operation as part of policies of impression and intimidation. Police raided many homes of administrators and members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Office Workers Union (BES), Education and Science Workers Union (Eğitim Sen), Ankara Democratic Alevi Association (ADAD) and Rojava Assistance and Solidarity Association, particularly in the Çankaya and Yenimahalle districts of Ankara.

As the searches continue, some of detained people are as follow: “The HDP Party Assembly member Atiye Eren, HDP Ankara Provincial Administrator and member of Peace Mother Yıldız Bahçeçi; The HDP Party Assembly member Bülent Durukan; BES member Deniz Kırım; Rojava Assistance and Solidarity Association administrator Arif Yıldız; ADAD member Sevgi Kişin, Eğitim-Sen No. 2 Branch administrator Mazlum Bircan; the Federation of Associations of Families of Detainees and Convicts for Cooperation (TUAD-FED) Ankara Representative Havva Özcan; Peace Mothers members Kadriye Özgan, Şerif Oti and Fahri Yalçın; DİHA reporter Ayşe Sürme ( She was in the same home of Atiye during the raid).

Co-chair of HDP Bolu detained

The HDP Bolu Provincial Co-chair Özgür Günaydın was taken into custody during house raid conducted last night. Özgür was taken to police station.

House raids in Istanbul

Special forces and riot police conducted house raids in many neighborhoods, particularly in Gazi Neighborhood, of Istanbul. Helicopters supported the raids. No information has known about how many people were detained in the raids.

38 politicians, who were taken into custody in the raids conducted last week in Van, were sent to Van Courthouse yesterday. Eight of 38 people were released after being questioned by prosecution. 30 people were sent to the court on duty, 22 of them were released and six people were sent to jail for allegedly “being member of an [illegal] organization”. Jailed people are: “The DBP Van Provincial Co-chair Murat Sarisaç, DBP İpekyolu District Co-chair Hazım Harmancı, HDP İpekyolu District Co-chair Tahirhan Sayyigit, DBP Edremit District Co-chair Medeni Özer and politicians Dilaver Taşdemir and Necat Tanış.”
