QAMIŞLO – Chair of the Kongreya Star, Evin Swed, stated that Turkey has launched extensive attacks on the Kurdish people’s gains in Rojava and Bakur (North Kurdistan) and continued; “As Kurdish women, we have launched a total resistance against these attacks. We call on all women demanding freedom and democracy to support our resistance.”

A press statement was released in the Qamişlo city of Cîzîr Canton regarding to the detention of Gültan Kışanak, co-mayor of the Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, and Turkish army’s attacks on Shehba and Efrîn under the leadership of the Rojava’s women’s umbrella organization Kongreya Star. Chair of Kongreya Star, Evin Swed, pointed out the attacks of Turkish state on human rights; freedom and equality have been intensified.

Evin said, “Turkish state has settled the score with the Kurdish people for a century. The state’s orientation on women and the Kurdish people in the Bakur reveals through the detention of co-mayors, the usurpation of municipalities elected by the people, the attacks on Kurdish women politicians and the police raid on the office of the KJA. The resistance of the Kurdish women makes the tyrants intolerant.”

Evin pointed out that Turkish state has intensified their attacks not only on Shehba and Efrîn in Rojava but also on Bakur. Evin stated that as Kongreya Star, they condemn the detention of Gültan Kışanak and the state’s violence against women in Diyarbakır. She said, “Turkish state will never succeed with these attacks. The history of the Kurdish women is the resistance history against atrocity. In this progress, the freedom and resistance will develop in the person of women. We launch a total resistance against annihilation attacks on all gains of our people and we invite all women into the ranks of the resistance. The only way for freedom not only for the Kurdish women but also in the Middle East is to stand by the Kurds. We should protect our lands and freedom in this progress. We call for resistance and uprising to the people in Bakur, Başur and Rojava. The day is the day of resistance and struggle.”
