AMED – Police attacked hundreds of women, who gathered in front of the building of the KJA in order to issue a press statement. The women broke the police obstacle and made the statement. “We resisted against those who displayed women’s body and they attacked women of the KJA in order to stop the separation of women’s resistance. This struggle will continue, our friends should be released immediately,” said the DBP Co-chair Sebahat Tuncel.

Hundreds women, including the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair Leyla Güven, the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-chair Sebahat Tuncel, co-mayors, members of Peace Mothers and all the KJA organizations gathered in front of the building of the KJA in Diyarbakır in order to issue a press statement regarding the detention of Ayla Akat Ata and Gültan Kışanak. Police told they wouldn’t allow them to release the statement. Police attacked the women and battered them. Women issued the statement despite the police attack. The women shouted slogans such as, “Resist the freedom will win”, “Resisting women are our honor”, “Women Life Freedom”, “Long live women’s resistance”, “Ayla and Gültan are our honor” and “We will win by resisting”. The Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-chair Sebahat Tuncel stated that Diyarbakır Governorate is trying to block the women’s protest and words.

Sebahat said, “We, as women, know the way to the solution and that’s why we are resisting. We resisted against those who displayed women’s body and they attacked women of the KJA in order to stop the separation of women’s resistance. This struggle will continue; they are mistaken if they think they cannot stop us with their tanks and bombs. Our friends and democracy should be released immediately.”

The DTK Co-chair Leyla Güven, meanwhile, said, “We will win a free life or we won’t accept this life under no circumstance. We are comrades of Sakine Cansız and other women and we will never bow down against this unlawfulness. We will be on areas until Gültan, Ayla and tens of our friends to be free.
