Call for raising voice against transgender murders

İZMİR – People against homophobia and transphobia made a statement on the 20 November Trans Day of Remembrance and called for raising voice against transgender murders.
People against homophobia and transphobia gathered in Gündoğdu Square, İzmir on the occasion of the 20 November Trans Day of Remembrance and marched to Alsancak Pier. The people carried placard reads, “Trans identities aren’t illness” and shouted slogans such as, “Trans murders are political”, “Don’t keep silent, cry, there are transgender people”.
In the statement made after the march, people said, “Hande Kader, Çağla Joker, Petro Melikşahoğlu, Dora Özer, Sevda Başar and more. At least 40 trans women have been killed in Turkey since 2008. If we still can remain silent and unresponsive, this means we are the partners to this crime.”
